In 1998, I had the great fortune to be cast in a movie across from the incomparable Leslie Cheung. Leslie at that time was one of the biggest stars in all of China. To me it was his turn in 'Farewell My Concubine' that rose above all others. That film was indelible and his performance was mystifying and beautiful. Our film together, 'A Time to Remember' took months to shoot in Shanghai so Leslie and I had some down-time between takes to become friends and get a little nutty.
1998年，我有幸參演張國榮主演的電影。Leslie是當時中國最炙手可熱的巨星之一。於我而言，他在《霸王別姬》裡的表現卓爾不凡。這部電影令人印象深刻，Leslie的表演動人迷離。我們合作的電影《紅色戀人》在上海拍了數月，拍攝的休息間歇，我們成了好朋友，有時還會一起瘋鬧（囧，nutty是crazy的意思，想想多動症的老哥我也不想多說什麼了……）。
A fan of his and 'Time' contacted me today and said there was a memorial in China to honor him. Twelve years to the day, we lost Leslie to his personal demons. I was asked if I had any photos I could share from that time to help commemorate him? I went into my old albums and tried not to get stuck too long in memory lane (hard to do) and began scanning. It breaks my heart but also makes me smile. He was a rascal and made it really hard to hold a close up without breaking.
他的一個粉絲，也是《紅色戀人》的影迷，今天聯繫我，說中國有他的紀念活動。十二年前的今天，我們因為抑鬱症失去了Leslie。那個粉絲問我，可不可以分享一些拍攝時的照片供大家懷念。我打開舊相簿，避免深陷在回憶的長廊裡（儘管這很難），開始翻閱老照片。這令我心碎，也使我微笑。他是很淘氣的人，搞得拍特寫老是被打斷。
For the record, I tried to convince Leslie to come to the states and make movies here like his friend Chow-Yun Fat. He was having none of it. I can only imagine what amazing things he would have gone on to do. He seemed like he could do anything.
So here, I offer up for internet posterity, some of my personal photos of my late friend and colleague, Leslie Cheung.
我曾勸說Leslie像他的好友周潤發一樣，來美國發展電影事業，他卻不為所動。我只能想象，如果他還在，又會創下怎樣一番事業。他仿佛無所不能。在此，我拿出一些私人照片，是我已故的朋友和同事張國榮先生的，分享給網上的朋友們。
